Description

Wow how time flies. After creating my original lifesize Twilight a little over a year ago, I decided to spend some time making a new one for myself. The original idea was to make a smaller standing one to be an around the house companion, but the concept completely changed after being pitched the idea of making a fluffy laying down Twilight. Having spent Bronycon with :iconqtpony: and getting to see his then recently completed laying down Spitfire and fluffy Twi, I was pretty sold on the idea. I have to say, this is one amazingly cuddly pone, and I'm happy to have her as a compliment to my ever growing collection of bed hogs.

-Laying down pattern by :iconqtpony: (pattern isn't for sale by either of us)
-53" from hoof to hoof
-74" from hoof to end of tail
-Made from Shannon Soft Cuddle minky, with appliqued CM made from Shannon Cuddle 3 minky. Mane and tail are made from Shannon Luxury Shag faux fur.
-Pseudo inlaid appliqued cutie mark (no satin stitch boarder)- my own personal touch
-Eyes machine appliqued and made from satin and Kona Cotton

While Twilight came out much better than I had expected, there a few things I had hoped would have gone better.

Originally I had hoped to have full satin eyes, but finding thick, high quality satins (duchesse) in colors other than bridal colors proved to be nearly impossible. Of places having good variety, they were often real silk and wanted as much as $8-$9 per swatch! Thankfully they still look quite good even with the combination of the cotton and satin.

Working with the long pile minky and faux fur was an interesting challenge. The long pile minky is the absolute worst for cutting because of the fuzz, and hard as hell to properly see what you're doing when ladder stitching. It wasn't as bad to sew as I thought it would be, but still not the most enjoyable experience. The long pile minky also made appliqueing the CM in my boarder-less method an absolute nightmare- sadly I think I did better on my first Twilight than this one. :l Also, faux fur is horrid for ladder stitching, but gave really nice results despite my terrible job sewing it.
